Bluegill

Bluegill are one of the most popular and widely distributed game fish in North America. They have a firm white flesh and are great eating. Bluegill are a great sport fish with plenty of fight when caught on a hook and line. Bluegill are an ideal forage fish for largemouth bass do to there ability to reproduce at a rapid rate. They train easily to feed and production can be greatly enhanced by feeding and fertilizing.

Bluegill are typically stocked with Redear (shellcracker) at a 80 to 20 percent ratio. Stocking rates vary but typically stocking is 1000/acre of this 80/20 mix. Spawning occurs throughout the warmer months when water temperatures are above 75 F.
