Striped Bass Hybrid

Striped Bass, native to the Atlantic coast of the United States, are anadromous; that is, they live in saltwater but migrate into freshwater to spawn. Striped Bass are hybridized with White Bass and the resulting first generation offspring are excellent culture animals. Their flesh is excellent and can be prepared in a variety of ways - baked, poached, steamed, broiled or sashimi.

Culture synopsis: Three-day-old fry are fed rotifers followed by Artemia and dry diets of a small size. Initially, they are intolerant of rapid temperature changes, pH swings or salinity extremes, but as they mature and grow to 5-6 cm they are very tolerant of a wide variety of environmental conditions. They grow well in fresh, brackish or marine systems. They reach 600 grams at 6-7 months intensive culture.
