Yellow Perch

Yellow perch are the most popular food fish of the Great Lakes region of the U. S. However, the fish consumed in that region are all wild caught. Bio-technical culture information is just emerging with very promising results. Broodstock from the southern part of their range produce offspring which grow rapidly at temperatures up to 32-33c. Yellow perch should be marketed at 300-400 grams.

Culture Synopsis Since females grow much faster than males, we market all female seed stock. In this manner a Culturist may achieve the best possible yield. Although we recommend purchase of fingerlings started on feed, fry are available as well. Fry are generally stocked in earthern ponds prepared for zooplankton growth and are offered a dry diet from the beginning to get best results.
